Real Estate is automatically assessed as of January 1 of the current year.
Homestead filing deadline is October 15 for the current taxes payable. Once filed, you do NOT have to re-file as long as you live in the same residence. If you move, you must file a new homestead on your new residence.
Deadline to file appeals with the County Equalization Board is the third Monday in August each year. The Equalization Board will hear appeals for the current tax year, payable the following year. In Arkansas, the taxes payable in any year are the previous year's assessment.

On and after January 1, 1991, taxpayers shall annually assess their tangible personal property for ad valorem taxes during the period from January 1 through May 31.
